If this is your first time in the job world, or you are looking to switch careers or positions, then you will need a resume. Calm down and just relax because with a few resume writing tips you will get through this just fine. You can find resume writing help from many places online. It may even be as close as your desktop. No, not the piece of furniture upon which your computer is sitting. If you have MS Word, then there are some very helpful resume templates to help you navigate through writing your own document.
There are a few different types of resumes from which to choose. The type you will use depends largely on your work experience and your education. First, there is the Chronological curriculum vitae. It is just as it sounds. It is one that goes by dates and is best used when you are looking to showcase your dedication to your career. If you have had multiple jobs in the past, then this type is not for you. To write an effective resume, you must choose the best style for your circumstances.
Next on the list for resume writing tips and types is the Functional resume. You will use this type if you want your potential employer to focus on your skills rather than the number of jobs you have had in the past. If you have had diverse working experiences and training, then this is the one for you. You will still need to list your past employers, but rather than focus on dates, you will detail your accomplishments and duties.
The final type of curriculum vitae is the Combination. It is exactly as it sounds. It is a combination of the Functional and Chronological resume. Use this style if you have been in one career and intend to keep pursuing jobs in this career path. It will list your past work experience and the skills you have acquired, along with detailed information about the typical day-to-day job duties you have performed.
Writing a resume is not that hard if you choose the right type. There are plenty of places and resources you can utilize for resume writing tips. If you do not think some of the online information is trustworthy, then you can always go to your local library or bookstore to pick up a book on resume writing. Start out with a list of your experiences and job history and go from there. Before you know it, you will have a polished, professional resume which will help you to land that dream job.

Today's Tip On Resume Writing
You should go into depth about your work experiences and skills. However, it is imperative that you stick to information that is related to the position being offered. It may be interesting that you can stick a spoon on your nose, but an employer may not want to know that much about you. A professional resume gives relevant information and lets the employer know about your past work experience. If you have skills and talents that are applicable, then include this information. |
